Professional interests
Since 2023, I have spent significant amounts of time reading and listening about ecological overshoot and, to borrow a term coined by Nate Hagens: "the more-than-human predicament".
This exploration ranges from energy, climate and biodiversity overshoot, ecology, human behaviour and psychology. It looks at how each of these facets fit together and have interacted to lead to the situation we currently face as a civilisation.
Currently interested in pursuing research and computational modelling on systems ecology, dynamical systems, and/or the energy transition.
Piano
These days I am playing:
- J.S. Bach Toccata in E-moll, BWV 914
- J.S. Bach Partita no. 1 in Bes-moll, BWV 825
- Frédéric Chopin Ballade no. 1 in G-moll, op. 23
Still trying to polish out a few parts of the fugue (BWV 914).
Cycling
My most recent bike-packing trip was through the Jura and the Alps, climbing the Great and Small Saint-Bernard passes between Switzerland, Italy, and France, and a few others in the Beaufortain and from Wallis into Bern canton.
Epic sunrises over the Mont-Blanc massif; very hot and dry; beautiful lakes; Alpine marmots; Swiss cheese. Focaccia. A lot of climbing.
